All senior portraits should be delivered to West by mid October, with
November 1, 2019 as an absolute deadline. Mrs. Tracy Sturtevant will be collecting the photos at West. (sturtevanttrac@aasd.k12.wi.us)

High School Graduation Date Change for the 19-20 School Year
In an effort to better meet the end-of-year needs for our students at the high school level, Appleton Area School District Seniors will now graduate from high school the week prior to the end of the school year starting with the 2019-2020 school year. Seniors will now graduate on Thursday, May 28, 2020. The last full day of school for all other students is Thursday, June 4, 2020.
Historically, Seniors have graduated on the last full day of school for all students. Preparing for graduation, and holding graduation ceremonies in the midst of the last full day of school created a stressful environment for students, staff, and their families who are connected to graduation.
HELPFUL TO UNDERCLASSMEN
By having Seniors graduate the week prior, we believe that the graduation process and the school environment will be much less hectic for all students and staff at the end of the school year. In addition, underclass students will benefit from being able to complete their end of year course work in a more focused learning environment after our graduation ceremonies have occurred.
HELPFUL TO STAFF
This change will also provide additional opportunities for our staff to work directly with Seniors who have not yet met graduation requirements by graduation day or with other students needing additional support.
