IS ANYONE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK ON AASD GROUNDS?
No. AASD is recommending but not requiring face masks while inside school buildings or on school transportation for AASD staff and students.

WHAT COVID MITIGATION STRATEGIES ARE STILL IN EFFECT THIS SUMMER?

  • Social distancing/podding (smaller indoor workout groups 5-10)
  • Hand sanitizer stations
  • Staying home when you don’t feel well
  • Contact tracing with quarantine periods for siblings/household members
  • Disinfecting protocols
  • Upgraded filters in air handlers and increase in frequency of air circulation from outside

DO STUDENTS AND COACHES NEED TO FILL OUT A COVID SCREENING LINK BEFORE THEY COME TO CAMPUS?
No. You must self monitor at home though. If you are not feeling well, then stay home. Please contact your coach or Kayla directly to let them know your status.

IF SOMEONE IN MY HOUSE TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID, WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
Please stay home and contact Kayla or your head coach. They will walk you through the next steps. Siblings / household members of a positive case will continue to be quarantined for 10 days (from the last date of contact.) Staff and students who have been near the COVID-positive person will not be quarantined, however a notification will be sent to all involved encouraging them to monitor closely for any symptoms.

Families will still be expected to screen students for symptoms of COVID-19 daily prior to coming to summer school, using the Student Illness and Screening Guide. Students with symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home from school and families should contact their school.

WILL I BE ABLE TO TAKE A SHOWER AFTER MY WORKOUT?
No, showers are not available on campus.

WILL LOCKER ROOMS BE AVAILABLE?
No, but the Emanuel restrooms will be unlocked.

SHOULD I BRING MY OWN WATER BOTTLE?
Yes. The bubbler filling stations will be available to fill your bottles, but the fountains are still off limits. Please plan for your hydration before, during and after your workout.

WHAT DOOR SHOULD WE ENTER TO GET INTO THE BUILDING?
Please use Door 31 (off the patio in back)

WHAT IS THE SUMMER WEIGHT TRAINING (AKA. LIFETIME FITNESS) SCHEDULE?
Appleton West Student-athletes are expected to strength train, however any incoming 9th-12th grade student may participate. If you plan to try out for a sport at West, this work matters now!

DO I NEED TO REGISTER FOR A FALL SPORT AT WEST?
Yes, you will have to register for each season when the time comes.

Sport Registration Windows:
Fall Sports: June-July
Winter Sports: Oct-Nov
Spring Sports: Feb-March

IS THERE A REGISTRATION FEE FOR ATHLETICS?

Yes, $50 per sport. That will be collected when you register online via credit card. Hockey has additional participation fees (Appleton North is the lead school/contact for boys hockey. Xavier is the lead school/contact for girls hockey.)

WHEN CAN I REGISTER AND HOW?
Registration at West is online. The window to register will begin in late June. Please check the AWHS website for updates.

HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT SUMMER CAMPS/LEAGUES?
Please contact the head coach of that sport using the coach directory.

HOW CAN STUDENTS AND PARENTS GET CONSISTENT COMMUNICATION FROM COACHES?
When you email the coach, ask to be put on their TEAMSNAP platform. This is the best way to get direct information from coaches in a timely manner.
