Appleton West Yearbook: The Clarion

The Clarion is one of the longest-running activities in the school, as West’s first yearbook was published over 100 years ago when it was Appleton Senior High School.

The yearbook staff work hard to produce an award-winning book each year, highlighting all West students as well as the clubs, music groups, plays, athletic teams, and academic events that are a part of every school year.

It’s time to make your plans for your senior portrait for the yearbook! With all the photographers and photo possibilities, there is a need to set some specifications for your yearbook shot.

All senior portraits should be emailed (or delivered) to Tracy Sturtevant ( at West by mid November, with December 1, 2020 as an absolute deadline.

The picture must be a standard portrait. (We reserve the right to reject or re-crop photos that do not meet the requirements listed below).

  • Head and shoulders ONLY with some space above and beside the person‘s head
  • No hands in the picture
  • The pose must be vertical and not horizontal.
  • The background must be somewhat neutral - outdoors is fine (as long as it’s neutral)
  • Attire must be school appropriate (no hats, strapless tops, shirts with drug or alcohol references, etc.
  • No props, friends, pets, cars, weapons, etc.
  • At least 300 dpi at 2 inches X 3 inches
